Noriega, Manuel Manolo

Spanish actor, familiar to Mexican filmgoers for his roles as frail-appearing, grandfatherly types. However, Noriega had a long and fruitful stage career in the early 20th century - in Spain, Mexico, Cuba, and New York, among other countries - and directed a number of silent films. He was married to Hortensia Castañeda; their daughter married Tito Guízar. Noriega earned a Best Supporting Actor Ariel nomination for Pepita Jiménez.
